    The technology of solar water heating is present worldwide as it is a smart substitute of energy and minimizes the cost. The stainless steel solar water heater is considered the best because of the durability and strength of the material.

    These heaters are composed of solar thermal collectors, storage tank, and circulation loop. Even the simplest types of a solar heater can provide a convenient amount of hot water to the households. However, the more complex and large heater is required for the commercial facilities.

    The major advantage of this heater is it has a longer lifespan. It can withstand harsh weather and can resist corrosion better than other materials. These heaters are built to last. Another plus point of stainless steel is it is light in weight which makes it easy to transport and install. There is no need to inspect or replace the anodes as stainless steel solar water heater do not require anode. It saves the cost of maintenance, and time spends on inspection.

    As we all know stainless steel is a recyclable metal and every new product of stainless steel contains almost 60 to 70% of the recycled metal alloy.     The solar heaters can have an active system or a passive system.

    Active System

    It uses pumps to circulate water or fluid to transfer heat utilizing electrical components. It can be divided into two more types:

    Direct-circulation system: a pump is used to circulate the pressurized potable water. Water is circulated directly through the collectors. This system is ideal for the areas where the temperature doesn’t get too low, and water is not hard.

    Indirect-circulation system: heat transfer fluids are pumped through the collectors, the heat is transferred to the potable water from the fluid by the heat exchangers.

    Passive System

    The heat is transferred and circulated naturally. It relies on the gravity and tendency of water to circulate as it is heated. This system is easier to maintain, and it is more reliable because it contains no electrical component. It also has a longer work life comparing to the active system. The two significant types of passive system are:

    Integral-collector storage system: the sunlight directly heats the tank. It is the oldest design or solar water heater. It is only suitable for the areas where the temperature remains above the freezing point.

    Thermosyphon system: it is economical and reliable. The water in the solar collector rises into the tank as it becomes lighter when heated. The cooler water goes to the bottom of the collector through pipes. A glycol fluid is used as a heating medium in the collector loop.

    Bottom Line

    The solar water heaters are efficient and reduce the use of electricity and natural gas. They may be expensive than the conventional heater but saves money in the long run.

    However, the placement of these heaters matters a lot as they must consume the sunlight. Wall mounted solar water heater or not; it must be installed where it can devour sunlight.
